Don’t yield under pressure: CPW’s High Frequency Welded pipes show enhanced collapse resistance for deep-water applications.
Following the successful campaign performed last year for LSAW pipes used for deep-water applications, CPW keeps up the pace with new testing campaigns within 2023 to prove the collapse resistance properties of its HFW pipes.
This verification was accomplished by full-scale collapse testing at #C-FER Technologies, Canada. During this testing, both bare and coated 16’’ HFW pipes were subjected to an increasing external overpressure, simulating the harsh conditions that arise during deep offshore pipe laying. Results proved once more the outstanding performance of CPW’s HFW pipes, with a high demonstrated fabrication factor (αfab), fulfilling or even exceeding the typical DNV-based design criteria.
The pipe sample sustained pressure equivalent to 4 km of water depth before collapsing.
Testing outcome, in combination with advanced production techniques implemented by CPW, render HFW pipes as an excellent solution for deepwater offshore applications.
